2009 Brain Bee

The New Zealand Brain Bee Round One competition took place in schools during Brain Awareness Week on Wednesday 18 March 2009.

The regional Finals (Round Two) took place at The University of Auckland and the University of Otago on Tuesday 16 June 2009.

ROUND 1 QUIZ - Student Participation Certificate

Teachers may download the ABBC Round 1 Quiz Participation Certificate at https://abbc.edu.au/certificate.php with a Password (your password has been provided to your teacher by email).

The Certificate will download to the computer's desktop. Teachers then enter their student's name and school for each student who completed the Round 1 Quiz and print them in colour for presentation to their students. Teachers may prefer to let each student login using the same password (in confidence), complete and print-off the colour certificate themselves. Some schools are presenting these certificates to students at assembly to applaud each student's effort in taking part and to flag the Challenge to encourage next year¹s students to think about science. Students who have completed the ABBC Round 1 Quiz automatically become a member of the ABBC Alumni.

ROUND 2 - 16 June 2009

Round 2 took place on Tuesday 16th June in both Auckland and Dunedin with students from all over the North Island coming to Auckland and South Island studnets travelling to Dunedin.(see the North Island and South Island map showing the extent of the range of schools attending). Travel was generously sponsored by the CatWalk Trust and the Royal Society of New Zealand. Exciting days unfolded at both locations with Dunedin severely hampered by heavy snow falls and icy conditions. Details from the North Island final and South Island final can be found in Auckland and Otago/Southland page.
